Oct 4th Walking Tour
Castleberry Hill and Atlanta University Center
Join us on October 4 to talk with elected officials, community leaders and others about increasing connectivity between the Atlanta University Center, Castleberry Hill, the new Falcons stadium and downtown Atlanta.
Saturday, Oct 4, 4:00 – 6:30pm
This walk has two options – a one-mile walk or a two-mile walk.
- If you’d like your walk to include the stadium area, meet us at 4pm at International Plaza between the Georgia Dome and Phillips Arena. (Close to main entrance to the Dome/Phillips Arena MARTA station)*
- If you’d prefer a shorter walk, join us at 5pm in front of Atlanta University Center’s Robert Woodruff Library, 111 James P. Brawley Dr. SW.
*Parking for the International Plaza is located below the plaza in the GWCC Red Deck.
Did you know that the Atlanta University Center (AUC) is less than a half-mile from the Phillips Arena?
AUC includes Clark Atlanta University, Spelman College, and Morehouse College – and is one of Atlanta’s historic treasures. Founded in 1865, Clark Atlanta University is one of the nation’s first colleges serving a predominately African American student body. Yet many people have never seen it.
Castleberry Hill is another treasure just a stone’s throw from downtown’s Central Business District. A vibrant and creative community, Castleberry Hill is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
For both Castleberry Hill and the Atlanta University Center, connectivity issues remain challenging. The new Falcons stadium and other proposed developments could help overcome challenges – or make them even worse. We look forward to learning your ideas on re-connecting downtown neighborhoods.
See you there!
