Slow Down, Save Lives

Impact of SpeedMuch of the risk to pedestrians come from speeding cars. If hit at 20 mph, the risk of death is 5%. If hit at 40 mph, the risk of death is 85%.

For our new “Kill Speed/Save Lives” initiative, we’re partnering with Abbadabba’s, neighborhood organizations and police departments to encourage metro Atlanta drivers to slow down.

On Tuesday, June 9, we’ll distribute free “SLOW DOWN” yard signs in Gordon-White Park (in the West End neighborhood) from 6 – 7 PM.

Look for our distribution table at the intersection of Ralph David Abernathy and Hopkins St. SW.

You may also pick up signs at all Abbadabba’s shoe stores. If you can’t make it to the Gordon-White Park event, visit a store in Little Five Points, Buckhead, East Cobb or Kennesaw.

Posting SLOW DOWN signs on your street will send a clear message to drivers who treat your neighborhood street like a highway.

In addition to the yard signs, we’re partnering with multiple metro Atlanta police departments on Speed Enforcement through the month of June.

Streets have many purposes, only one of which is moving cars. With your help, we can make our roads safe for all users.
