Stop Sidewalk Parking
Georgia Legal Code 40-6-203 forbids drivers from stopping, standing, or parking a vehicle on the sidewalk or in the sidewalk area of driveways. Parking on sidewalks is not only illegal and rude, but it also:
- forces pedestrians to walk in the street
- denies access for people with disabilities
- creates hazards for the visually impaired
- damages the sidewalk and curb
Too many drivers treat the sidewalk like it’s a free parking lot. Are they uninformed? Or just jerks?
What you can do
Print our Mock Parking Ticket (PDF) on yellow paper and “ticket” violators. Educational and real-looking, these mock tickets give drivers a lesson and a scare.
Use our hazard reporting tool to notify local police about routine violations. This is only for locations where drivers routinely park on the sidewalk.
