Sally Flocks, President and CEO

Sally Flocks founded PEDS in 1996 after surgery helped control a seizure disorder that has prevented her from driving during most of her adult life. Sally’s efforts as President of PEDS have prompted changes at the local, regional and state level in Georgia and have made PEDS one of the most effective transportation reform organizations in the United States. Sally served previously on the Board of Directors of America Walks, a national coalition of pedestrian advocacy groups, the Steering Committee of the Safe Routes to School National Partnership, and on the Atlanta Regional Commission’s Bicycle-Pedestrian Task Force. Sally holds a Ph.D. in history from Yale, lives in the City of Atlanta, and walks to work.


Joanna Pritchard, Safety Program Manager

As Pedestrian Safety Program Manager, Joanna  will work with government officials, community leaders and the media to help overcome barriers to walking.  Joanna was the founding president of the Glenwood Pedestrian Safety Initiative in 2003, a community organization that prompted DeKalb County to implement a two-mile road diet and other safety improvements on Glenwood Road in DeKalb County. In 2005 PEDS recognized Joanna with a Golden Shoe Award.  Joanna is a native of the United Kingdom, has degrees in economics and anthropology, and recently returned from two years in Haiti managing community infrastructure and health projects. Joanna loves walking, gardening, cycling to work, bird watching with her family, and promoting healthy, sustainable communities.


Larissa Bradburn, Program Administrator

As Program Administrator, Larissa helps coordinate membership activities, manages the database, organizes volunteer activities and assists with outreach. Larissa is a longtime friend of PEDS and pedestrian advocate, having co-chaired the Morningside Elementary Walk to School committee for two years. Previously, she managed the Compliance Department at INVESCO Retirement Plan Services and most recently worked as a consultant in compliance testing.


Andy McBurney, Best Practices Researcher

Andy McBurney, an Engineer in Training, is gathering information on best practices for bus stop location and safe crossings at transit stops. Andy is nearing completion of graduate school at Georgia Tech with joint masters degrees in Transportation Systems Engineering and Regional Planning. In 2011 Andy conducted pedestrian road safety audits that helped PEDS identify hazards on Ponce de Leon, South Cobb Drive and Hairstan Road. Andy interned previously at MARTA, where he helped develop plans for bus stop consolidation.


Josh Levin, Focus Group Leader

Josh Levin, a graduate student in planning at Georgia Tech, is reaching out to underserved populations who walk to transit. By conducting focus groups and observing and documenting pedestrian behavior, he is helping participants in our Safe Routes to Transit Initiative determine best practices for safety improvements. Josh worked previously at Walk Boston, the nation’s first pedestrian advocacy organization.
