Driver Feedback Sign Slows Drivers

May 20, 2009 at 02:15pm by PEDS · 2 comments

PEDS partnered with the City of Dunwoody and Georgia-based sign manufacturer Radarsign to demonstrate the effectiveness of a driver feedback sign on North Peachtree Road, a street plagued by speedy drivers. Operating in “stealth” mode, the sign detected more than half of all drivers were speeding.

When the sign was activated to display drivers’ speeds it cut the total number of speeders by more than forty percent. The sign also slowed the fastest drivers on the road by nearly ten miles per hour and cut the number of drivers exceeding 40 mph by 50%.

Could this be a speed hump killer? Watch this 3-minute video.
