Feet on Atlanta Kick-off

March 31, 2009 at 05:11pm by Sally Flocks · 1 comment

April is Feet on Atlanta month. On March 31, 2009, we invited the media to join us for a brief walking tour as we exposed the hazardous conditions of a typical Atlanta sidewalk.

Check out this short clip from our walking tour and interview with FOX5 News.

As a Feet on Atlanta volunteer, you can help PEDS estimate how much of Atlanta’s sidewalks needs to be repaired or replaced. It’s as easy as printing out a survey form and taking a walk. Volunteers will be entered in prize drawings, too. Visit our Feet on Atlanta page for details.

We encourage neighborhood organizations to ask traffic committees, block captains, or others to recruit volunteers and assign streets to them. Make sure your neighborhood’s broken sidewalks get counted!

  1. Brenda Young,

The sidewalks in Atlanta really need to be repaired and PEDS is documenting the need – YOU can help. Encourage your friends and co-workers to help. Just pick a street, print their form, grab a pencil and go for a stroll. Take a friend and really take notice of the sidewalks. It’s a good excuse to get up, get out, and get moving! It’s springtime, so enjoy a walk and help PEDS at the same time. And, maybe win a prize!

If you know anyone working or living within the city limits of Atlanta, tell them about PEDS’ Feet on Atlanta. Encourage your friends and co-workers to help.

Thank you to PEDS for calling attention to the state of our sidewalks in Atlanta! I’m proud to be a supporter of such a worthwhile organization!
