Cobb County Adopts Complete Streets Policy
March 31, 2009 at 05:08pm by PEDS ·Cobb County Commissioners voted on 1/27/09 to adopt The Complete Streets plan for all of Cobb County. Complete Streets is a design concept that ensures pedestrians, bicyclists, motorists and bus riders of all ages and abilities are able to safely move along and across a street.
Cobb County’s policy is not as strong as it could have been. It only affects future roadways, and only where right-of-way is available. But even so, it’s a great step forward.
Cobb County is the second jurisdiction in the Atlanta region to adopt a Complete Streets policy. The City of Decatur included Complete Streets in its Community Transportation Plan that was adopted in April 2008.
